Applied Behavior Science Press (ABSP) was developed by Herb Severson in collaboration with his partner Ace Remas, and was set up as a corporation in California. In 1992 the company moved to Eugene, Or. when Mr. Remas left the company. The company was set up as a distribution and marketing company for products developed by Deschutes Research and scientist collaborators.
ABSP is dedicated to marketing products that have been empirically evaluated and determined to be efficacious and effective. While the core products of the company have been tobacco cessation and tobacco prevention products, there has been a recent expansion to include products that focus on other health-related behaviors. In some cases, ABSP also distributes products that have been developed by outside authors or companies, and ABSP acts as a secondary distribution source.
